Ah yes… the dreaded doodle dreadlocks. Those mysterious tangles that appear overnight as if tiny hair elves came to party in your dog’s coat. But where do they come from, you ask?

Well, let’s not forget — your Doodle has hair, not fur. So think of it like your own. What happens if you go to bed with wet hair? Or skip brushing, throw it into a messy bun, and call it a day? Yep — by evening, brushing becomes a battle between your scalp and your patience. Now imagine that, but all over your dog.

Here’s the truth: Doodles need baths (not daily — we’re raising dogs, not supermodels), and they must be blow-dried completely dry. Not “eh, close enough” dry — I’m talking Sahara desert dry. Blow-dry and brush as you go. A high-powered dryer is your best friend, but use it gently — no “wind tunnel tornado” approach, please.

A good moisturizing, detangling shampoo and conditioner will help your doodle’s curls stay soft and manageable. The cleaner the coat, the faster and smoother the drying. Remember: long, luscious locks = more work. If your doodle insists on rocking the “celebrity curls” look, plan on visiting your groomer every 4–6 weeks (and brushing religiously in between).

Personally, I prefer the sporty doodle chic — shorter coats, fluffy faces, wagging tails, and fewer knots of doom.

Love the pool? Your doodle probably does too. But here’s the catch — if you don’t blow-dry afterward, you’re basically signing up for a full-body matting session. You’ll have a “Matt-a-Doodle” before you can say fetch.

And let’s talk about puppies — those deceptive little fluff balls with their wispy coats that make them look like The Tramp after a windy walk. Start “puppy cuts” once vaccines are done (around 14–16 weeks), so they learn early that grooming is just part of life.

If you decide to try grooming at home… well, bless you. You’ll soon discover that your groomer is, in fact, a saint and worth every single penny. But hey, the good news? Hair grows back. And playdates can wait until your pup looks less “abstract art” and more “adorable doodle.”

💇‍♂️✨ Groom often. Blow-dry thoroughly. Avoid dreadlocks. Save your sanity.
